Shanty Town

Matt Hawthorn Matt Hawthorn’s practice explores action and environment, moving between art, architecture, performance, video and new media.

Matt proposes to create a series of box models using the CBT materials pressed into a formwork and set into boxes. To experience the work, the viewer will have to put their eye to an aperture that will reveal a scene backlit by a transparent wall.
The scene will be created from layers of transparent and translucent layers. Pencil drawings will be interspersed with wire models. Each scene will draw on local histories, and personal responses to the site of the installation.
